There are tens of strings of different length attached to different parts of the kite (normally the 'head'), which actually measures the Center of Gravity. Then, on the other end of these strings, they are binded together, thats where we attach the string to it. Given it's boneless structure, there is no worries about the bone snapping/breaking in flight during strong winds.
As the hollow tubings catches all available wind around it, the wind power (WP) of these kites are generally bigger than other kites we have. So during strong winds, it is best to pin the reel to the ground, or get a stronger person to hold on to it. Given it's high WP, tough strings like dyneema, kelvar, fishing strings will be ideal to fly them.
Soft kites are easy to keep and set up, saving time and making them portable to carry around. But maintenence on Soft kites is abit of a hassle, the multiple strings often get tangle up, and therefore needs frequent untangling, keeping them straight.
Flying it takes abit of technique, there are a few methods. One of them is the 'scoop up' method. Where the flyer's back is facing the wind direction, and the kite is serveral metres infront of the flyer, the kite's facing upwards to the sky, then the flyer tension the string, making the hollow tubes facing the flyer, thus catching the air from the in-coming wind. After enough intake of air into the kite, top of the kite will bloat up, thats when the flyer either run backwards, or reel in the string, allowing the kite to take flight.
Manufacturing Soft Kite takes alot of work and budget is high, that explains why they are more pricey then other kites around.
